Planning Services Lead, Arup
Sertac Erten is an urban planner with with an excellent professional and academic background of more than 20 years. She got her MsC and PhD degrees on the field of urban design, METU. Sertac is currently leading the Masterplanning and Urban Design Skills and Planning Services in Arup. She has a broad experience of planning/urban design consultancies for local governments of Turkish cities. She participated and leaded several award-winning urban design competitions in Turkey. She has 18 prizes from urban design competitions, 6 of them are 1st prize. Moving to Arup after gaining experience from working as the director and the lead designer of her own urban design & architecture company for the past 13 years, she got involved in managing and leading large-scale masterplanning and urban design projects and she has become expert in holistic and coordinated provision of urban planning and urban design services, with the holistic and sustainable solutions strategy of Arup. Expert areas; design of public spaces, masterplanning, healthy streets approach, integration of UN-Habitat SDGs into urban design and masterplanning projects, pedestrian-oriented sustainable urban mobility. She has been teaching undergraduate courses of Urban Design and Landscape Architecture at different universities of Turkey, since 2012. Currently adjunct professor at Yıldız Technical University. She is currently the local team leader of Cankaya Healthy Streets Project, within the scope of the Global Future Cities Prosperity Fund Program Turkey, funded by UK-FCDO.
