Mehmet Nuray Aydınoğlu

Mehmet Nuray Aydınoğlu graduated from İstanbul Technical University (ITU) Civil Engineering Department (1965). Started his career as a structural design engineer. Received PhD (1977) and associate professorhip (1981) degrees from ITU followed by a practical engineering career in engineering/construction industry (1982-1992). Contributed to various large construction projects at home and abroad as engineering manager. Joined Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KOERI) of Boğaziçi University in 1992, appointed as professor of earthquake engineering in 1994. Involved in graduate teaching and earthquake engineering research in the Department of Earthquake Engineering until officially retired in 2010. Still continue the same activities at KOERI as emeritus professor. Research interests include seismic soil-structure interaction, performance-based seismic analysis and design of buildings, bridges and other civil engineering structures. Actively involved in engineering industry as a structural/earthquake engineering consultant and served in several governmental councils and committees. Served in editorial boards of major international earthquake engineering journals (2003-2018). Coordinated and contributed to the development of Turkish seismic design codes for buildings (1997, 2007, 2018), marine structures (2008, 2020), highway and railway bridges (2020) and airport structures (2020).
