Lokman Çağırıcı

Mayor, Bağcılar Municipality

Lokman Çağırıcı has started residing in Bağcılar district, Mahmutbey Neighborhood since 1978.

Mr. Çağırıcı graduated from the Industrial Engineering Department of Yıldız Technical University in 1990. He worked as a senior executive in various institutions and engaged in trade until 1999.

In addition to his work in the private sector, Çağırıcı began his political career in 1990 and was elected as a Member of Bağcılar Municipal Assembly in 1999.

Mr. Çağırıcı, who served as a Member and the Vice-President of Municipal Assembly until May 11, 2007, was elected as the Mayor of Bağcılar by the Municipal Assembly since the Mayor Feyzullah Kıyılık, who was the Founding Mayor of Bağcılar, had elected as an MP in the May 2007 General Elections.

Çağırıcı, who was elected as the Mayor in the Local Elections on 29 March 2009, also had the opportunity to serve for Bağcılar with 57.25 percent of the votes in the 30 March 2014 Local Elections. Having reached 57.89 votes in the March 31, 2019 Local Elections, Çağırıcı was elected as the Mayor of Bağcılar for the third time.

In addition to being Mayor of Bağcılar, he also serves as the President of Bağcılar Amateur Sports Clubs Union, Deputy Chairman of Marmara Municipalities Union, Vice President of Union of Turkish World Municipalities, Vice President of the Board of World Academy of Local Government and Democracy (WALD) and the board member of United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Regional Organization (UCLG-MEWA).
