Hacer Foggo
Co-Founder, Deep Poverty Network
Hacer Foggo has worked for 15 years as reporter with various papers and magazines, focusing mainly on issues of human rights. Since 2003, she’s been focusing on the problems of Roman people through different civil society organisations. She’s been an activist in the Roman neighborhoods of Sulukule, Küçükbakkalköy, Kağıthane, in which Roman people were displaced due to urban transformation projects. She was worked for the European Roma Rights Center as the Turkey Human Rights Observer. She established the Deep Poverty Network (solidarity network) during the pandemic period and ensured that food was sent to thousands of families who could not access food. Also she is Ashoka Fellow 2015. She has published a book “Kırmızı Püskül”
