Fırat Genç

Fırat Genç is adjunct professor at the Department of Sociology in Istanbul Bilgi University, Turkey. He holds a PhD in history of Modern Turkey from Boğaziçi University. He worked as a post-graduate researcher at the Department of Sociology in Boğaziçi University, Turkey. He is co-author of two books published in Turkish, Indivisible Unity of the Nation: Nationalisms that Shatter in the Process of Democratization (TESEV, 2007) and Turkey of Cities: Prospects, Limits and Conflicts (İletişim, 2021). His research focuses on urban studies, social movements, nationalism and international migration. Since 2007 he has served as researcher and research coordinator for the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly (hCa), Turkey. He is currently the editor-in-chief of saha, the periodical magazine published by the hCa, and member of the editorial board of İPA Istanbul, a quarterly magazine published by the Istanbul Planning Agency of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
