Emrah Alkaya

In his 15 years of professional career, Emrah Alkaya, Ph.D. took several senior positions in finance and consultancy sectors and has been actively involved or coordinated more than 50 projects on industrial symbiosis, resource efficiency, supply chain sustainability and circular economy. He worked as a researcher in Environmental Engineering department of Middle East Technical University from 2006 to 2008. Holding several positions in the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey (TTGV) between 2008-2016, he was actively involved and managed numerous projects/programmes on resource/energy efficiency and water/waste management. He joined GTE in 2016 and has been working as a partner and managing director coordinating sustainability consultancy and circular economy services covering a range of value chains, sectors and industrial parks. He served for the World Bank Group as a consultant in Climate Competitive Industries Group of FCI Global Practice between 2018 and 2019. He has a well-proven experience in execution of sustainability/circularity projects supported by various funding institutions including The World Bank Group, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), European Commission, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and Global Environmental Facility (GEF). He authored more than 50 high-impact publications including international peer-reviewed journal articles (SCI-Expanded), book chapters, proceedings and conference papers. He has BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Environmental Engineering.
