Berrin Koyuncu is Professor of Political Science, the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of Hacettepe University (Ankara, Turkey). She received her BA, MA and Ph. D. degrees from Bilkent University, Department of Political Science and Public Administration (Ankara, Turkey). She has published articles on urban studies, gender and women studies, local politics in Turkey and gender, headscarf issue in Europe, Turkish political thought, and political economy of Turkey. She is the author of various articles in Women’s Studies International Forum, Feminism & Psychology, Turkish Studies, and Review of International Political Economy. As co-author with Prof. Fuat Keyman, she has published books entitled “Cities: Transformation of Anatolia Turkey’s Future” in 2010 and “The Tales of Eight Cities: The New Localism and New Middle Class in Turkey” in 2020. Prof. Koyuncu-Lorasdağı has carried out TUBITAK and Hacettepe University Scientific Research projects on cities and the political economy of Turkey, women’s rights organizations, and violence against women. Currently, with Prof. Fuat Keyman, she has been undertaking a three-year 1003 TUBITAK project entitled “Sustainable Urban Policies: Quality of Life in the City-Regions of Turkey”.
