Andrea Betancourt

Andrea has a background in urban planning and local governance. She has worked in the international development sector, leading projects to support municipal policy, socioeconomic development and sustainability planning in countries worldwide. Her expertise is at the nexus of urban development, social needs and sustainability, covering topics of urban safety, sustainable solid waste management, informal labour in urban settings, and housing. She has worked and collaborated with the International Labor Organization, the World Trade Organization, The World Bank and WWF International. Andrea recently joined the Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation as Senior Programme Officer for the Safe & Sound City Program - a program that focuses on building a systems understanding of safety issues for young people in urban settings and empowering the youth as they develop innovative solutions for those issues.
