Ahmet Sinan Türkyılmaz

Professor Türkyılmaz has graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Department of Statistics. He received his master's and doctorate degrees in the field of "Technical demography" from Hacettepe University Institute of Population Studies (HÜNEE). In 2000, he completed the "Sampling Program for Survey Research Statisticians" at the "Institute for Social Research" at the University of Michigan. He completed his doctoral studies at the same institute as a visiting scholar in 2001-2002. He became Associate Professor in 2010 and Professor of "Social Research Methods" in 2015. He is currently working as the deputy director and head of the "Social Research Methods" department at HÜNEE. He has been involved in local and national studies by HUIPS since 1995, including 1998. 2003, 2008, 2013 and 2018 Turkey Demographic and Health Surveys. 1996 Turkey International Migration Survey, 2005 Turkey Migration Survey, 2006 Turkey Maternal Mortality Survey, 2008 and 2014 Turkey National Domestic Violence Against Women Study, 2010 Turkey Nutrition and Health Survey, and 2014 Turkey Global Burden of Disease Study. He worked as the project director in the 2013 Turkey Demographic and Health Survey. He has also been working as a sampling expert in UNICEF MICS (Multi Indicator Cluster Surveys) surveys for more than 15 countries in the UNICEF headquarters and ECARO Region (Europe and Central Asia) since 2012. His main areas of interest are research and sampling design, statistical analysis, life tables and population projections.
